Engagement in Malcesine, Lake Garda

Lake Garda is one of the most requested places to have a photography session when visiting Italy from abroad. It’s absolutely picturesque, there are so many towns with different vibes to choose from, and it’s similar to Lake Como without the crazy crowds.

Ali & Matt are from Canada and were celebrating their engagement in Italy! Ali reached out with their day-to-day itinerary so we could figure out the perfect location. They were doing a road trip through Northern Italy in April and passing through Lake Garda, the Dolomites, and Udine. Lake Garda and the Dolomites are my specialty, but a session in the Dolomites was still a bit early — I recommend sessions from at least May if you’re wanting a “summer vibe” so the snow will be melted. Therefore, we went with Lake Garda!

Ali mentioned they were staying in Torri del Benaco on the east side of Lake Garda — Sirmione and Riva del Garda are the most popular locations but they’re too far south and north, respectively, in relation to Torri del Benaco. That’s when I suggested Malcesine just twenty minutes north of where they were staying; it was perfect!

Sunset was at 8 PM, but the Malcesine Castle closes at 7 PM, so we agreed to meet at the castle at 6:30 PM to start our session. After it closed, we walked down to the beach for sunset and we had a perfect glow!

If you’re looking to do a session to remember your time in Malcesine or Lake Garda, Italy — don’t hesitate to reach out! I would love to capture all those special moments of you and your loved ones to cherish for years to come.
